She was a Red Cross leader during the First World War, a founding member of the Victorian Order of Nurses and helped create Canada's first YWCA.

In the 2023 election, all candidates who participated in the racial justice candidate forum organized by NAACP and the YWCA were asked whether they'd support the CRB w/subpoena power. It's good for folks to see: a) who showed up. b) what were our answers. My answer, consistently, has been yes.

The abuse/poverty/isolation of autistic women is a lot. My great-grandfather's sister Annie was autistic from every description I've heard of her. She died by suicide alone in a YWCA in the 1930s. I don't think I've ever shared that but I think of her all the time.

둘리가 꼬마애였다가 검열때문에 공룡으로 바뀌었단 이야기는 김수정씨가 직접 이야기를 해서 꽤 알려진 편인데, 이 검열 문제는 생각보다 소소한 부분들에서 많이들 틀어놓은 설정들을 많이 만들었죠. 이게 어느정도 희석된건 87년 민주화 이후부터 즈음이죠.
그당시 잡지의 연재만화 첫 장이나 대본소의 만화책을 보면 표지에 "심의필" 마크가 들어가 있었죠. 아마 지금 남은 현물에 보면 다 있을겁니다. 90년대 초반즈음에 이게 없어졌지만, 대신 YWCA 같은 시민단체발 검열논란이 종종 터졌죠.

In 1922, Bronson joined a YWCA delegation on a trip to Peking, China, with stops in Hawaii, Manchuria, Japan, Korea and Hong Kong. She was one of the first Native American women to serve as a student delegate abroad, bringing her to the attention of the international press. /3
