It's something you didn't see afforded to ysayle and ilberd, least. My only complaint is that it felt surprising to see no one from the cast die. Especially after the Sandy missions where it felt like death was always a realistic threat.

the fact that the roles would be reversed here.. the vibes match more this way so I decided to draw myka as madoka and ysayle as homura xoxo 💘 but aughh I love madohomu for them… ysayle would sacrifice herself everytime and myka would go through countless timelines to find a way to save her

In the Churning Mists, Estinien has a crisis of faith as it becomes harder and harder to deny that there is some truth to the idea that dragon & man once lived in peace.

Idk. The narrative very clearly tries to set up Ysayle & Estinien as narrative foils. Estinien is a man who would rather shed blood than talk about peace, who is forced to stay his lance. Ysayle is a woman who would rather talk peace than shed blood, forced to kill again and again.

I think one of the things I want to do in my Heavensward longfic is give Ysayle a crisis of faith to drive home that she & Estinien are foils of one another. I want her reaction to their meeting with Hraesvelgar to be the straw that broke the camels back, to give it some substance.

I still love this art so much, all the elezen look so good in it! Alphi is so baby 🥺 & Ysayle looks like the young, disillusioned revolutionary she is. I also love so much when they lean into letting Aymeric look conflicted and broody, walking the line of noble hearted knight or scheming politician
