Police have ended a rescue operation launched in South Africa to save about 300 illegal miners known as ZamaZamas trapped more than two kilometers underground. In July, police launched an operation to smoke out the miners by blocking food and medicine from entering the shaft. The sheer scale, nationally, would be impossible without some form of 'blind eye' or collusion.

The current cruel crackdown on #Zamazamas in South Africa using #starvation as a policing & crime fighting too by Police #SouthAfrica is morally wrong. It is allowing real criminals who are illegal gold smugglers and to roam free
