My own "little known but check them out" is very not-Absynthwave, but really good: Amythyst Kiah, a nerdy queer black singer/songwriter that does awesome bluegrass-inspired stuff.

E.g. "Gods Under the Mountain" is inspired by "Old Gods of Appalachia"
