It’s surprisingly difficult getting a Live Activity showing the status of a process that does not itself support ActivityKit. I’m relying on observing status changes but who knows if my app target is there to receive them. VPN extension connection status updates are also funky.

So ActivityKit is not available to Network Extension processes but UserNotifications is. Is there some logic here that I’m not seeing?

Nope, as I don’t need this feature. From what I’ve read, it looks like it’s doable with ActivityKit APNs. And this is requiring you to obtain a push token from ActivityKit, which expo-notification pkg cannot do!
