and then there are afrolatinxs who’ve internalized anti-blackness and lean heavily into ethnicity as a way to claim superiority over black americans in what i assume is an attempt to climb the racial hierarchy in the u.s. by distancing themselves from blackness in an “american” context.

As an "agreement with an aside", I'm always so irritated with mi gente who are anti-black.

Like...the Spanish fucked everything they conquered. Latinxs almost to the one are part black by heritage. *I* technically am, just a tiny bit.

And *THEN* there are also Afrolatinxs who are *both*.

i feel like mexico's understanding of racism suffers a lot from having a relatively small population of black people because like. most people have no way to understand or even learn from afrolatinxs, so they think all racism is the same and that it always comes from the same people (aka whites)
