But...the Universe, the divine or whatever you call God doesn't want any of us divided. So, why bother following a religion of any kind at all and just follow the divine?

There are always exceptions and there was for me.
In my near 20 years of attending various Christian denominations, the vast majority of people within that, were extremely unpleasant.
I had the exact opposite experience, with atheists and agnostics.

Ah, a ‘provocative encounter’ 😉😊. I’m not sure she was wanting to exclude atheists or agnostics, and I’d argue that both are beliefs (as is science 😳) in reality, just rarely acknowledged as such.

Only if the children of atheists get no first name (despite my annoyance at how often mine is mispronounced, but that happens with my first name too despite its simplicity and lack of stray letters) and the children of agnostics get named after a Democratic senator.

I know a lot of atheists and agnostics who support charities and do volunteer work. Because it's about helping people, not scoring points to get into "heaven."

Most #UnitarianUniversalists don't believe in Jesus Christ. In fact many U*Us are #atheists and #agnostics who don't believe in God at all, so you wouldn't learn much about Jesus or God in a #UnitarianUniversalist "church".

Lack of help from one church and later on another church that stole from the building fund which we had contributed to is why MJ and I quit going to church. We are basically now agnostics. I’d rather give to the ACLU or the food bank, frankly.
