Excited to share my latest publication with @entothompson.bsky.social and Emily Russvage. Here, we reviewed how plants leverage multifunctional volatiles to mediate plant-insect interactions simultaneously with multiple insect groups in agroecosystems. Check it out! 🌿🐛🐝🐞

Ecological diversity of Anopheline mosquitoes in highland agroecosystems in relation to microclimate dynamics: implications for malaria control
Agroecosystems in tropical regions provide diverse aquatic habitats that support Anopheles mosquitoes, which are malaria vectors. Understanding species composition, behavior, and environmental associations is essential for targeted vector control, however, ecological data from rice-growing regions in Indonesia remain limited. This study examined the diversity, spatiotemporal distribution, and ecological preferences of Anopheles mosquitoes in the rice field landscapes of the Banding Agung...

Microbial biodiversity underpins agroecosystems—cycling nutrients, partnering with crops, and suppressing disease. Mycorrhizae, rhizobia, PGPR, and ISR support yield and resilience, while soils store carbon and temper greenhouse gases. 🌐🧪
Microbial Contributions to Biodiversity Conservation in Agroecosystems
Microbial biodiversity is an integral part of a natural environment that delivers essential services for the proper functioning of agroecosystems and associated flora and fauna. Hence, continuous exploration of microbial biodiversity, function, resilience and...

Edge Effects and Pitfall Trap Design Influence Spider Diversity and Assemblages in Canola Agroecosystems on the Canadian Prairies
Spiders (Araneae) are generalist predators in agroecosystems and may contribute to biological control in canola (Brassica napus L. and B. rapa L.). However, their diversity and community structure remain understudied in the Canadian Prairies. To address this knowledge gap, we surveyed spider assemblages in the Aspen Parkland region of Alberta, Canada, using pitfall traps placed at field edges and interiors during the 2021 and 2022 growing seasons.
