The Trump administration has awarded Palantir a no-bid contract to build an AI system intended to prevent "SNAP fraud," among other things.

The no-bid contract is for the implementation of the National Farm Security Action Plan and includes "security checks" on SNAP applicants.

The WSJ claims that this survey said that "less than half of current AI projects had generated more in returns than they had cost," which is not something that's actually in the survey! It talks about 40-47% of AI projects "delivering a tangible ROI." amazing!

"RemoveWindowsAI" is a script created by zoicware, available on GitHub, that does exactly what it says: it remove every AI feature in Windows 11. Do what you wish to do with this information. I'm sharing this because some folks are forced to use Win11 at work or other places for any reasons.

USDA plans to give Palantir a no-bid contract for AI "data integration" for the National Farm Security Action Plan which notably highlights SNAP 'fraud.'

So Palantir AI will ingest "key user data previously submitted by applicants" to "conduct security checks."

It'll cost up to $300 million.

That said, a good IT or security professional should be open to user concerns about this kind of stuff and find a fair balance between security, compliance, compatibility, and user comfort.

The sad reality, though, most staff either like this AI stuff, or don't care.

I think it’s worth noting that this is the report of a company that sells AI -based security products, including parental controls. The usage data was collected by customers who signed up in exchange for free access to the service—a biased sample, so likely not wise to generalize to the population.
