Overall, TMcin behave in ways like other small #antimicrobialpeptides as a monomer but more like the much larger pore-forming proteins as oligomers.

The mechanisms & regulation of insect #antimicrobialpeptides & #HDPs is of wide interest. We now appreciate their function in vivo is much more complex than what's described in vitro.

New on my "to-read" list: #AntimicrobialPeptides (AMPs or HDPs) are key to fight infections. But there's a building literature on their knock-on effects. This study proposes the AMP "Attacin D" is actually autotoxic, damaging #Drosophila kidneys (MTs) when induced.
