This is very off topic from my usual posts, but I am a big fan of when in theme parks rollercoasters are themed to fit the area and land around them in a natural way, instead of just being plain tracks on a field.

This #25in25, we’re revisiting East Renfrewshire in 2002, where we excavated a palisaded enclosure which was dated to the early medieval period. This is exciting because ‘palisaded enclosures’ have been around since the Late Bronze Age, but ours proves that they continued into the historic period.

- The archaeological museum inside of a cave... I looked for hours and hours. I can picture right where everything is.
The entry way to that was wading through a river that had giant amethyst in and around it. Lots of minnows.
- The bonkers, fancy underground library that had been abandoned. 🧵

Great @archaeological.org talk looking at new analyses of cattle material from Çatalhöyük by @uncertainarch.bsky.social from @harvard.edu. Modelling shows skew towards female cattle in later periods, shifts to Konya(?) plain, and the suggestion of garden hunting as a strategy. Lots to think about.
