Pro-Israel apologist Alex Ryvchin had his portrait by racist cartoonist Johannes Leak rejected by the 2025 Sydney Archibald portrait prize committee. 👏

Peter Ke Heng Chen’s “I’m a little fish in New York (ripples of ambition)”. A portrait of the artist’s son, the loveable comedian Aaron Chen. I can see a father looking at his grown-up, successful son. A very tender painting.

We honor the passing of William Robinson whose "Creation Landscapes" and distinct style changed how we see our world.

It wasn’t easy to choose, but I voted for Loribelle Spirovski’s “Finger painting of William Barton” in the Archibald Prize this year.
I love this painting for its looseness and freedom, the way it lets the light in.

Vincent Namatjira’s “King Dingo” is one of my favourite works in the Wynne Prize this year. The artist explains he has painted the dingo as a symbol of Indigenous power.

Congratulations Vincent Namatjira for winning the 2020 #ArchibaldPrize with his portrait of Adam Goodes. If you visited my practice between 2015-2018 you would have seen his 2013 work titled Captain Cook as part of our Artbank collection. It started a lot of conversations!

#Sydney #AGNSW The #ArchibaldPrize is for “the best portrait, preferentially of some man or woman distinguished in Art, Letters, Science or Politics” and is hugely popular through I find it always a mixed bag (this year was good though). 1/2
