Dial in on your perfect blog reader with all you do online. For me, that means bloggers hungry for blogging tips. I create content for them. I engage them. That's it. I treat social media like Google; a targeted traffic source for Blogging From Paradise Dot Com. Save time. Save work. Target.

🏺 With so much going on today, I guess I miss that it’s #InternationalArchaeologyDay, so here’s a reminder that you can find all of my archaeology-focused blogging over at my website (with links to my various publications too!).

Being consistent is not often included in successful blogging guides but it is a most critical step. Nothing happens quickly. Everything lasting occurs with slow, dependable, eventually exponential, organic blogging growth.

Figuring out how to write a blog post feels intimidating to new bloggers. Various strategies create a confusing crosscurrent of blogging information. Should you write short or long blog posts? Do you need to format posts ruthlessly? How often do you need to publish blog posts?

It's also so repetitive. If more time was spent making sure students 1998-present were better writers than turning English and writing courses into STEM, there wouldn't as much a reliance on it.

Also, blogging, self-publishing, etc. led too many people who "can" write believe they're good at it.

The split second you try to make blogging complex everything tends to fall apart. Complex fails. Complex blogging tactics – or a deviation from simple – usually poisons the mind of beginner bloggers.

Researching how to write a blog post may seem to be a confusing endeavor.

Stop overwhelming yourself with information.

I have one blogging philosophy: start from simple and work from there.

…day and wonder why their timeline remains so sterile.

But the way things work on Bsky is more like old school blogging than modern social media.

The people you follow are like your blogroll/RSS feed, and constant interaction… via reskeets and quote skeets …is a rising tide that lifts…
