#cRPGs
See I'm safe anyways cause I hate CRPGs BABYYYYYYYY (is aware that almost all his favorite glorious nippon studios are also betting it all on genAI)

YES! lol so many old CRPGs do this and it adds so much charm. sometimes robert from accounting gives a memorable performance lol

My 2025 #steamreplay! I've been playing a lot of crpgs this year. Modded baldurs gate 3 was so fun. Nightreign took over my life.

Big retro-style vibes, harkening back to early/mid 90s CRPGs with a grimdark feel. Looks pretty interesting and I do love an RPG.

Just realized that this Larian fuck up means CRPGs are going back into The Shadow Realm

Goodbye CRPGs hope to see you again in 12 years

'play divinity original sin 2 it's one of the best CRPGs ever made' my friends say as we spend 9 hours getting our asses kicked in Fort Joy for not completely pre-rigging the encounter in our favor.

I did love all the tagged dialogue though, especially the character ones.

I really really enjoyed it, but it doesnt even crack the top 10 CRPGs for me. Every Infinity Engine DND blows it out of the water.

Icewind Dale 1 and BG II my GOATS

Interesting, but of course views can differ on this. Out of interest, what is/are your favorite crpgs? I do also like disco elysium a lot, never got too far into pillars of eternity (2), and while I like PF: wrath of the righteous it’s pretty clunky in parts I feel. Still have to get into rogue trdr

Eu queria poder apagar o Infinity Nikki mas tamo aí, viva os CRPGs IRRAA
December 16, 2025 at 9:48 PM
Sharing my Steam Replay 2025 too cuz why not. With both Pathfinder games and Solasta, it's been a pretty big year for CRPGs for me. My JRPGs have mostly been delegated to other platforms lol but there are some I wanna get to that are on Steam... maybe if I ever get a Steam Deck lol
December 16, 2025 at 9:26 PM
i think it's more that crpgs were not a super popular genre before bg3. dos2 was well respected but only within its niche
December 16, 2025 at 8:45 PM
That tends to be an issue for CRPGs across the board tbf
December 16, 2025 at 8:27 PM
engraçado ZA/UM e Larian fazendo dois crpgs fodas, pra depois ir tudo pro espaço
December 16, 2025 at 7:58 PM
meu genero é crpgs de gays ocultos
December 16, 2025 at 7:44 PM
It's genuinely wild how hard Larien Studios worked to accomplish these insane technical feats - constant multiplayer, multiple "main" characters, wide open im-sim inspired maps - and all of them combine to...like...completely ruin them as CRPGs
December 16, 2025 at 7:34 PM
They had, for the briefest of moments, the opportunity to be the revitalization that CRPGs needed to really become popular again.

Fucking imbeciles.
December 16, 2025 at 7:22 PM
GenAI is just a fast-track to learned helplessness, and that Vincke interview is rife with the language for it. The studio made one of the most successful games of all time, pushed CRPGs back to the forefront of interest, and their boss is promoting AI by framing the whole studio as lost in a bog.
December 16, 2025 at 7:15 PM
On a more positive note, I do like how brief and straight-to-the-point the writing is. Other CRPGs I've played tend to verbose and wax poetry whenever they can, and as a slow reader it takes a lot of effort to get through them. This, in comparison, feels like a breath of fresh air
December 16, 2025 at 6:32 PM
The new Divinity game using AI makes me a lot less likely to play it. I'm not hurting for too long crpgs to play.
December 16, 2025 at 5:55 PM
Listen larian at most just made the best dnd game and it's only genre defining in that you'll probably see more dnd turn based crpgs. You do not have to keep on kissing its ass and if wasting wyll ravengard was not enough of a wake up call then hopefully this one is
December 16, 2025 at 5:53 PM
wrt larian: oh well. there're other crpgs to play
December 16, 2025 at 5:08 PM
Well, looks like I'm skipping Divinity. I didn't realize Swen would be that much of an idiot off of the heels of BG3.

Oh well, there are other CRPGs out there, some of them I haven't even finished (like Rogue Trader)
NEW: I spoke to Larian boss Swen Vincke about their ambitions for their new RPG Divinity, cutting down development time, pressures from Baldur's Gate 3, why BG3 wouldn't have happened without Tencent, how Larian uses generative AI, and much more www.bloomberg.com/news/newslet...

‘I think this one is going to be way better’ than ‘Baldur’s Gate 3,’ Larian CEO Vincke says

At least there's no shortage of existing Larian games that I can go back and play now that I'm a mature enough player for this style of RPG. I've always hated DnD combat but am finally able to stomach it for these games, unlocking a wealth of existing and fantastic CRPGs
December 16, 2025 at 4:32 PM
You streamed this?

o7 champ. I love this game but I swear crpgs are among the worst games to stream for length alone
December 16, 2025 at 3:55 PM
Dubious honor of being the last game I streamed before my extended hiatus— but YES.

It’s the game that got me back into CRPGs. I’m debating a replay.
