Only 2 more episodes. I will miss the light it sheds on social and health issues 50 years ago. I was married in 1971 and my son was born in 1975. By then it was hospital births although there was an option of private consultant and private room in NHS hospitals. #callthemidwife

Also, the Actors who take on these roles, do so with such care. Television still has the power to reach people.

Is there any way the maternity hospital at least can be saved? Get Violet on the case, along with Nurse Crane and Miss Higgins - between them nothing can stand in their way. Only 2 episodes left though, and a lot of strands to tie up ...
