Took a day last week to reclaim wax from old candles, today I'm doing it with the scented candles, so there will be options for candlemaking later. The scent for the new candles will be

gave a talk on fiber arts and the labor movement recently and almost used this pic in one of my slides - found a pic of Addie from Library of Congress instead. Context of the slide is the stark contrast of labor demands of women of color esp Black women vs poor white women in the 19/20 century cusp.

Thanks to the encouragement of @jeninthe314.bsky.social and my spousal unit, I pivoted to clean wax and clean scents in my candlemaking. I just put down my 51st candle out of 100 because this is so much easier.

Piggybacking on this lovely thought to add that our joy comes from all different, non-stereotypical places. For me it’s candlemaking and sharing,
…and I would note that autistic joy is a thing regardless of an autistic person's support profile. My high-support autistic son is capable of more joy than anyone I've ever met.

My mother-in-law gave me a candlemaking kit about 3 years after Mom passed and I fell in love with the process. @jeninthe314.bsky.social (my sister) is really big on nurturing a community vibe at our studio and it just felt right to make candles for all the families.

It's because the limited stuff sims 2 sims can do are varied and actually fun. Knitting and candlemaking are some of the most tedious, dryest activities and angry pooping is just regular pooping without the game labeling it differently to make you feel like they're doing something new 🥴
