We will assume they are OK and design a version of our 3.5" TFT breakout www.adafruit.com/product/2050 but with support for the captouch chip, which is an FT5336. So far, it mostly works.

so apparently the captouch IC I wanted to use (IQS550) is still in production, but they only sell full reels now (it seems, MOQ 1k on their website).

Well, this sucks. At least someone still has a few thousand in stock, but this really would make it difficult to justify...

there's also a neopixel and a captouch sensor. the samd21e18 is fairly low power and as long as the NeoPixel isnt on full blast we don't think there'll be a lot of self-heating. lots more Trinkey's coming down the pipe! any suggestions you have for other Trinkeys you want us to design?

Fast thumb typists are likely already moving to the next letter before the point the thumb is finally out of captouch sensing range, resulting in "thumb lift sensed" being over an adjacent letter.

If so, the "bug" would be very sensitive to typing speed, and X/Y movement while lifting off the key.

our last test is always to plug in our 2.8" captouch TFT shield https://www.adafruit.com/product/1947 because it tests both SPI and I2C. this passes and since all the GPIO are accounted for, we just have to wrap up the PCB silk and it's off to fabrication!

Testing ESP programmer board, working on 3.5" Captouch TFT with new ST7796S display & FT6236 touch chips. Board needs redesign for new FPC. Got exciting screen samples (round/bar/rect). Also found great ultra-fine tweezers on DigiKey, for both engineers & entomologists! 🔬🐛🐜

this time a 360x360 pixel IPS TFT that is also round *and* comes with a captouch display. we're going with SMT headers for breadboard-friendly usage and EYESPI for a compact connection.
