Current hyperfocus: To improve my drafting technique & because they look fancy, I bought a ring distaff from Drechslerei Mewes in Leipzig last weekend. Bit of a learning curve but i think i have overcome the awkwardness in holding the distaff 🤓🧶. #handspinning #claspedspindle #distaff #Bergschaf
On a beige canvas bag featuring a print of a black cat‘s face 5 wooden objects are laid out: to the left of the cat‘s face 3 full bulgarian spindles with either purple or salmon colored singles are placed, and to the right the salmon colored fibers are bound to a ring distaff and partly spun onto a more vintage bulgarian spindle. It looks like the cat is marvelling at the objects. A bulgarian spindle with purple yarn on it lies next to a ring distaff laden with purple fibers on on a beige lace sweater (Thea Colman‘s White Russian to be exact). The fibers have been tied onto the distaff with a narrow handwoven band.
