I coached 11 years of little league baseball, 2 years LL softball, 3 years summer league, 4 years traveling. Got burned out but this game brought me back the love of the game.

you think part of it is that players used to be coached to run through home (and the catcher) even on tag plays, so the coaching hasn't caught up to when to slide and when to run through?

Lemme tell ya'... Dave Roberts managed/coached his ASS off!!! Putting Rojas in the lineup for defense and leadership, then he ended up saving the game. Then think about the fact that Pages was benched for poor offense but brought in for his arm... that catch in center field!😳

That dbl play was why I thought the Dodgers would be lucky to get two games. I forgot front offices MLB wide, don't care about making sure guys are coached up on fundamental of baserunning. smh.

I don’t disagree with you, I just think the balance is tilted heavily on the side of soft skills. Bjorkgren is, by all accounts, an excellent ball knower. And the team he coached demanded his ouster. That’s failure of leadership. Bjorkgren even appears to agree:
