i was part of a peaceful protest many years ago when the LAPD rode in on horses and started swinging batons. 1000 lbs of barely controlled animal is frightening enough but they were swinging hard enough to break collarbones. in a crowd it’s impossible to get away

Most of my works deal with monsters and humans, humans as monsters, monster or man, man or monster philosophical stuff.
In my minotaur WIP, the "monster" unties Theseus from the wall, but he's still a prisoner. And he starts seeing the monster in a new light.

Theseus glanced at him as he ate, chewing that soft rat meat off the bones. Musing a bit on how his life had turned upside down, him, the heir to the throne, the son of a god, sitting next to a monster and feasting on rats… He swallowed at his other thoughts, trying to chase them away. Up close, the monster’s fur seemed soft on that animal head and neck, that fur blending on his back down his spine, blending to his chest where it just lay like a carpet on his collarbones. Scars lining that human skin, his animal one too, different scars. The horns though were the most impressive, dark grey, almost black. One of them had a small dent in it, like a sword mark. And maybe it was… His eyes, with a melancholic light. He’s a monster… but he was hesitating, his heart somehow singing a different song. Keeping quiet, still. Not wanting to talk, to say anything to him, fearing that whatever words they would exchange would put the monster into a new light. One he didn’t want to see.
