I know #AO3 is doing their best to combat spam comments on our fanfiction. I don’t think this is the answer.

Having a system which calls perfectly fine comments “like spam” is harmful to #commentculture, but especially hurtful to any writer or READER who lacks confidence in writing comments.

Every Comment Counts: A Reader's Guide The Simple Note Even a tiny note can brighten an author's day "Loved this!" "Omg, this made me smile." "Thanks for writing :purpleheart:" The Quick Highlight Pick one thing that stuck out: "That line about the stars was gorgeous." "I really liked how you wrote X's dialogue." "The pacing in this chapter kept me hooked!" The Reader Reaction Share how the story made you feel. "I laughed out loud at the kitchen scene." "That twist punched me in the gut (affectionate)." "I'm rooting for them so hard now." Deep Engagement For when you've got the energy to write more. Call out multiple details you enjoyed. Connect it to canon or other fics you've read. Write your commentary as you read along. Any level of comment is valid. You don't have need to be clever and you don't need to write a lot. You don't need to say something no one else has. You don't need to explain why you liked it. Just saying you liked it is enough. @mromitosen

More people should comment! It doesn't matter if it's sex, when the writing and characterization is good, when you enjoy, you comment! Even if just to say "I love this". I promise everyone it means more to most creators than "X left Kudos".
