I can tell he feels forced to step up and make people get along and the art+voice does an amazing job of conveying how unhappy he is underneath that congenial personality, he reminds me a bit of myself (my irl self that is) and how I acted around my my family growing up when things were not so good

The range map of vampires in Canada would show include nothing west of Kingston, except a tiny population in Victoria. Vagrants will pop up in congenial environments (a couple of neighbourhoods in Winnipeg), but not enough to sustain a population.
I can’t really defend this on any level, but I think believing in vampires is more reasonable in some place in Canada compared to others. Believing in vampires if you live in Montreal is reasonable. There are no vampires in Calgary.

People get a huge dopamine hit when they are in a large group of people who are basically like them, and congenial. It's probably an inherited trait that helped build a tribal group in our distant past generations. Religion plays on that.
