#crt
I was a big believer until I recently visited a friend who had a CRT and a new flatscreen. We were trying to fill in the map in Symphony of the Night, but the gaps were invisible on the CRT. We switched to flatscreen and immediately found them all. Could not notice any added lag after switching too

My last shiny and shiny number 3 for #rumbleweekend!!! I love hunting on the crt. No experience needed! I drunk some cranberry juice, it was good.

now offering CRT photos off a real PVM! these are basically the bees knees highest end CRT you can get for standard definition signal. excited to use this!

Also, have a CRT version!

With the old retro stuff usually needing new parts which adds to cost, getting an emulation machine that also upscales + adds CRT shaders is the way to go IMO.

Having save states is a huge plus, i’d almost recommend playing roms over carts now!
Having legit hardware on a CRT is rad for a couple hours, then you just want to save your game and come back later, but can’t!

(🩷 another small thing while our story drive remains teehee)

A new antique shop just opened in the city! It advertises “Old Era” technology scavenged from ancient derelicts and Old Earth ruins. Everything from CRT TVs and analogue radios.

I'm going to start calling CRT TVs, Tube Televisions or Old Tube TVs. In this political climate, I don't want people to think I'm talking about Critical Race Theory.

But it's not just video games, either. I've tried, time and again, to mimic the look you'd find in an old CRT in my art because it's just really neat.

Heck, my current style is influenced by low poly 3D models. They're awesome, what can I say?

Plus ***nothing*** beats a wired controller and a CRT. There is essential zero lag.

Someone will invent a flat panel CRT and gamers the world over will rejoice

CRT? Pssssssh not only did I play on a CRT but it was a freaking console TV.

But um....why should anyone care what kind of TV anyone else is playing on? It's so inconsequential.

anyone want to lend me $800 so I can buy this?

I didn’t truly appreciate it until I saw it in theaters a few years ago. A 28” CRT was never meant to encapsulate the enormity of V’ger, so how was my teenage self supposed to know better?
Star Trek: The Motion Picture was released 46 years ago today.

This film is truly unique within this franchise. I understand that it may not be the most accessible, but I love its tension, mystery, atmosphere, and curiosity.

*waves in vintage tech fan*
As a Gen Z kid I always had an appreciation for this stuff, even years before this article existed. Been retro game collecting since 21. I also got a CRT not just for games, but I also hooked it up to my old Sky box so I could watch current day TV and record them to VHS.

What we watching on the CRT?

i'm intentionally using my gpu to make this game look shittier than the out-of-box settings the application defaults prescribe. i wonder if there's a way to get it to do the characteristic texture wobble?

Also, CRT TVs are always free, and there is always things at the thrift store for cheap, it's not really that hard to find old tech.

The old CRT TV I from 25 years ago STILL WORKS to this day! It outlasted analog cable! I have a HDMI-to-RCA convertor on it so I can use a Roku stick on it!

How many "Smart" TVs still work after just FIVE years?!
Every generation has revived and enjoyed the aesthetics of the past.

But also Gen z is in the position of modern tech actively hating them, spying on them & bricking itself every 3-5 years on manufacturers orders, where tech I grew up with often still works fine if it was well taken care of.
Why do Gen Z have a growing appetite for retro tech?
