El primer libro tiene un trato a las mujeres espantoso, no en cuanto a lore sino en la propia narración. Unos arquetipos desfasadísimos (la bruja de pueblo que es poco más que una curandera ignorante, la malvada hechicera seductora...) que no se cuestionan en ningún punto. Muy propio del momento.
