Left: Vanya in DAO Right: Branwyn in DA2 💙 Sometimes Alistair makes a mean comment about Morrigan, Vanya's best friend, that doesn't fly with her, meanwhile Vanya has a tendency to let Morrigan get away with any mean comment about Alistair, and Alistair doesn't think it's fair. Also, sometimes their different backgrounds show. Alistair might say something that Vanya, a city elf who's had to put up with a lot of crap from human men, just finds super offensive. ❤️ Branwyn doesn't like it when Anders is hiding anything from her and she is determined to wring it out of him every time she catches wind of it. Another source of arguments, in act 3, Anders is worried that Branwyn is flying a little too close to sun, so to speak: Sure, she's gained quite some privilege and fame as the Champion, but he feels she's too loudly pro-mage and will just bring Meredith's wrath upon herself. He wants her to be safe, he will fight this battle alone. Unsurprisingly, Branwyn does not want him to push her away, she's with him 100%, and so they clash. A lot. The rest is history. Left: Fern in DAI Right: Havran in DATV 💚 Fern and Cullen fight really, really rarely, they try their best to communicate everything before resorting to yelling at each other. Sometimes Cullen says something about magic that makes Fern shake her head and go "yes, spoken like a templar", but he's just being cautious. He feels like she trusts Hawke and Anders too much, Fern thinks he's paranoid about them. And, not a source of arguments but post-Trespasser, Fern likes to ask Cullen to "lend her a hand" when she needs help, that's the phrase she uses every time now. He hates it and wishes she worded it literally any other way. 💜 Havran and Lucanis don't really argue about it, but they obviously have very different approach to killing, Lucanis is a stealthy assassin who leaves no trace, while Havran gets really messy with her hammer. Also, they might disagree on what's an acceptable cooking experiment and what is steering too far into the "you're massacring Antivan fine cuisine" area. Lucanis is generally surprisingly tolerant to Havran's newfound cooking hobby, but some rules should not be crossed.

Gareth and Neve have always gotten along really well, and almost never fight/argue. He tends to be more hotheaded and impulsive with his decisions which Neve doesn’t love, but for the most part they gel pretty naturally.

Vax has a tendency to bottle up negative emotions & shoulder burdens alone to spare others. The biggest fights they ever have are when Dorian calls him out for it & forces him to communicate better.

Other than that they do bicker a lot but it’s all light-hearted.

Tessora doesn't have any pets although this griffon took a shine to Emmrich and when they visit Arlathan Forest she always comes to see him. I did draw Tess with an osprey for a question of what animal is your Rook like. My Warden named her dog Barkspawn and my Hawke's was Fang.

Left: Vanya in DAO Right: Branwyn in DA2 For starters: Vanya and Branwyn did not get the right to name their dog, it's very obvious I named their mabari and didn't roleplay it. Ibuprofen and Fluoxetine. Ask me what was on the shelf in front of me when the game told me to name them. 💙 Vanya gets another dog while she is away on her personal research, a female mabari Elfroot, lovingly nicknamed Rootie. Leliana tried to gift her a nug, but Vanya adamantly refused. Nugs freak her out a little. ❤️ Branwyn herself is a dog person, but she makes it her number one personal quest to get Anders a new orange tabby after they leave Kirkwall. Naturally, they name the cat Ser Pounce-a-Lot II. (it's…a mighty beast but also an orange male cat, go figure) Also, wherever they are, they befriend local stray cats. Left: Fern in DAI Right: Havran in DATV 💚 Fern has had her horse since the early Inquisition days and with Cullen, they have the mabari from Trespasser. They also have them in my sims savefile, where they're named Herald (horse) and Haven (mabari). I've yet to figure out if I want canon Fern's animal companions to be named that. Leliana also gifted Fern two nugs: Coco and Bobs. Fern however had to rehome those when it turned out her eldest child was allergic to them. 💜 Havran would love to adopt one of Assan's siblings, but hasn't come to an agreement about that yet. After one dinner with the Crows, where she spent an awfully long time talking with Viago, she seemed pretty determined to get a venomous pet snake, but Lucanis was able to change her mind about it. She was also sure that she could tame a dragonling. But…she's better off with no pets, really. Take her to the zoo instead, she'll love it.

I'm on the phone and sleepy so here's just a little thing, I'll probably return to my usual brand of yapping after the holidays.
💙 I like to think that by the time of Veilguard, Vanya has met Kieran already and she's rather fond of him. He's part of the family. When she and Alistair leave with Morrigan for the final battle in Minrathous (I like to imagine they're there), he's in charge of looking after their little kids, his half-siblings, in a safe place in the crossroads (or I'm debating giving them free range in the Lighthouse in my fic, if we ever get there, but…idk. Either way they're safe and Vanya charged Kieran with looking after them). Normally, he's not thrilled about babysitting them, but, you know, these are not normal circumstances. ❤️ When Anders says somtehing especially on brand unhinged, Branwyn looks him dead in the eye and says "shut up Justice". Sometimes she doesn't even have to say it, she just gets this look in her face and he knows he should take a deep breath and step back. He trusts her to keep him grounded. 💚 I know the colour we associate the most with Inky is green, and I've learned to associate it with Fern too, but the first colour I think of with her is actually deep, rich blue. 💜 After Veilguard, when Havran moves to Treviso with Lucanis, Teia teaches her how to take proper care of her curls.

I half assed my answer to my own qotd because besties I am struggling. I'm in full Christmas mode already and trying to write this while watching my favourite movie we start Christmas with in this household...was not as easy as I expected 😅

But, maybe just once, she would take Alistair away for a dreamy little expensive vacation for just the two of them, maybe a nice beach holiday. They would both enjoy it, but at the same time, Vanya would have this nagging feeling in the back of her head that maybe she should be working instead. She's not good at relaxing…but she can try. ❤️ Branwyn is not that good with giving gifts, but it's the thought that counts, right? So, her gifts don't always land, but she means well. That said, it's Christmas, and yeah this is very lore incorrect and wrong I know I know, but I could see her, when everyone leaves after dinner, going to her bedroom and wrapping herself in nothing but a ribbon…you're welcome, Anders. Left: Fern in DAI Right: Havran in DATV 💚 Fern spends too much time stressing about the right gift for everyone, and probably ends up getting them at the last minute, because she's so busy with every other thing. If gift cards were a thing in Thedas, she would definitely help herself with gift cards for a couple of friends. 💜 Havran doesn't stress it at all and yet, somehow always finds the right thing. She would get a special, custom made dagger (maybe with some magic properties like runes). It would combine classic crow designs with designs to symbollize her. She'd also search all of Thedas for special coffee brews that Lucanis has not tried before.

Besides the obvious (which is that three of them literally saved the world)…
Left: Vanya in DAO Right: Branwyn in DA2 💙 Vanya is proud of her heritage as a city elf (she doesn't care much for the ancient elven history, however. That's…well, ancient history. Oh, they're back and evil? Never gave them much thought. Give them what they deserve.) She is proud of her work she has done with the Wardens, as well as her personal mission. She's also, quite frankly, proud of her friends, and how far they've gotten in their lives. (like, hello, one of her best friends/brief lover is the Divine?? Morrigan is doing…whatever it is that she is doing?? And Alistair has matured like fine wine, inside and out, if Vanya says so herself.) ❤️ I want to say Branwyn is proud of how in control she is of her powers even though her education was so limited (not that her father wasn't a good teacher, but, you know, it was just one person and the circumstances were not the greatest), how strong she is, how well she wields her magic. But she doesn't think about that often, it's more that Anders is proud of her and always impressed by her. And the opposite is also true, she is proud of him, specifically of the man he was able to become in the years after Kirkwall. Frankly, when they were fleeing, part of her was worried she would soon have to kill him anyway, even though she spared him the first time…well, he's worked really hard to get better. Left: Fern in DAI Right: Havran in DATV 💚 Fern is proud of how she handled leading the Inquisition the first time around. (The second time, during the events of Veilguard, well, she's proud of a lot of things too, but she can't help but wish they had prevented more destruction, somehow. But it wasn't in their control, was it. They did what they could, and what they could do they did well.) She's proud of Cullen, for overcoming his struggle with lyrium. She's proud of them both that they did get together in the end, even though for so long they were so stubbornly clinging to their roles and how inappropriate it would be! She's proud of her hair, it looks amazing and is so soft (what, does that seem too shallow compared to what I've listed above? Maker forbid the Herald of Andraste does anything that isn't heraldy enough) She's also proud of her little garden that she's taking care of in her free time! 💜 Havran will always be proud of the moment her little sixteen year old self had enough and decided to leave the alienage and her shitty family behind, so that she could finally live as herself and by her own rules. That took some courage, but it was completely worth it. She's proud of always following her heart and not caring what other people think. She's proud of Lucanis and how well he's getting along with Spite.
