heads up to anyone travelling today: huge derailment near Shap in Cumbria on the West Coast Main Line, any trains between Glasgow and London will likely not be happening and you'll need an alternative route or method of travel.

So, I'm taking the scenic route home to Shropshire, via Edinburgh due to a derailment somewhere around Carlisle. Fingers crossed I get home sometime this week!

There was no mention of:-
location of the derailment
How far from a road
how people were being taken to shelter
How emergency services were getting to the site and the problems posed.
The Presenter had already mentioned a landslide but still asked an "expert" why it derailed.

I used to take that line to university from Shrophsire so I was interested.
