Spirit Airlines to add another nonstop route, this time to historic city
Spirit Airlines said Monday it will add a new nonstop route to Savannah, Georgia, from the Detroit Metropolitan Airport.
The move marks the budget friendly airline's first-ever service between Detroit and Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. It will be available beginning October 10, 2025.
"We look forward to welcoming our Savannah guests onboard soon and offering them new, elevated travel options with unmatched value to visit exciting destinations across the East Coast and Midwest," said John Kirby, vice president of network planning at Spirit Airlines.
"Savannah is an incredible destination, and we know our guests will love exploring this coastal gem while immersing themselves in the city's historic charm and vibrant art scene."
This booking will be available to travelers twice a week. For a limited time, Detroit flyers can see an "introductory fare" price of $79 for a one-way flight.
Savannah will become the second Georgia destination for Spirit passengers. The airline first launched service at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) in 2006, according to the release.
This service addition comes after Spirit announced several other nonstop flights from Detroit airport to various cities across the country. Those include Austin, Birmingham, Charleston, Hartford, Louisville, Kansas City, Milwaukee, Norfolk, Phoenix, Punta Cana, Richmond, Salt Lake City, San Diego, San Juan and St. Louis. Of the 15 routes, nine are new and six are resuming.
Another half dozen nonstop routes were confirmed in early March from Detroit to Baltimore, Charlotte, Memphis, Pensacola, Raleigh-Durham and San Antonio. These new and resuming routes are expected to be available in May.
The airline says, at over 40 destinations from DTW, this is most nonstop routes it has ever offered from the airport.
