🔵 Know the implications of getting SSDI or SSI. SSDI does allow you to work to some extent. It might not be as much as we’d like as disabled folks, but it helps to know what we can achieve to make ends meet. 🩵🧵 22/ #DisabilityThreads

At a time when we need community the most, you decided we aren’t worthy.
This is also a November con during a regime set on giving us death by pandemic, be it COVID or bird flu or the flu itself.

So I guess we won’t be at GGC anymore.

My doctor thinks I may have arthritis.

I don’t know whether to laugh or cry whenever I go to an apt anymore.

Since March I’ve been diagnosed with tinnitus (noise is permanent) b12 deficiency, low vitamin D, low iron & now starting to investigate arthritis.

🔵 If you have sleep apnea, for example, they won’t award SSDI for that, but they WILL do it if you can make clear how it affects your ability to function in everyday life. There are books & web info on framing a particular disabilty in order to qualify. 🧵 5/ #DisabilityThreads

I don’t want to type out the entire story on social media again for a third time so you’re getting screenshots.

There are some other things surrounding this too, but this is good enough.

Me: Don't forget to display your blue badge
Her: Yes I will
Me: Go on then
Her: I will ok?
Me: You've not got one have you?
Her: I'm waiting for my daughter. I'd move if someone needed it. What are you the Blue Badge Police? Just F*** off

Looks like I’ll be submitting a FOI request to www.theipsa.org.uk

I am wanting to try and find out more info regarding the Disability Allowance & the claims MPs have made.

I would love to see more disabled people in politics, however the claims made are all lumped together

Oh, PS - my creative solution for not having a warm winter hot beverate option was a spice blend. I mixed 2 t. ground cinnamon w/ 1 t. ea turmeric, ginger, & cayenne. I'd just drop a fat pinch in a cup of hot water, or lemon w/ honey, or coconut milk. Whatever I COULD drink! #DisabilityThreads

🔵 Check to see what’s available at the state & local levels, whether you’re approved or not. Many cities have mayors offices for PWD, & they know the conundrum we face. They can do some of that gap filling to keep you alive & as well as possible. 🧵 14/ #DisabilityThreads

I spent the rest of the ride coming up w examples of things I thought might fit that person's criteria for "good," but I honestly wasn't sure. My brain kept it up long after the drive was over. (AuDHD, too.) I eventually realized that my normal life is that person's idea of "bad." #DisabilityThreads
