Finished Downton Abbey. So what to binge next?

Loving the drop in temps. Time to get out my soup cookbooks. This is a favorite. How could a book written by Crescent Dragonwagon be bad? Her books are fun and the recipes are a bit hippie. Soup and bread is my perfect comfort food.

Where's Crescent Dragonwagon today?

I think about her and how I used to see her name in the children's section of the library and the cooking section, at the old library location, but I haven't seen her in the new one (I miss the old one and dream about it).

I was just looking for news.
Sometimes I think about how neat it is that I’m alive at the same time as someone named Crescent Dragonwagon

I have a paper book but maybe it's online, by Crescent Dragonwagon. But will sent photos if not.

I'm not saying that the name Crescent Dragonwagon is wasted on a cis woman, but

That one is definitely a 300 level or 400 level course, so goes well at the same level as the Dragonwagon books.

It is truly astounding how many people don’t have basic cooking because they’re the second, sometimes third generation away from home economics being a requirement.

The first cookbook I bought by the same author is also good, but very, very hard to find:

Rando here: black lentils are pretty much interchangeable with French green or puy lentils. Great for salads and also the famous Crescent Dragonwagon soup. I love big beans and I cannot lie, and I find the Coronas are great with just olive oil and salt. 🤤

How funny, I never made that connection! I learned from Crescent Dragonwagon to write every day - and she even calls it a "practice."

For myself, my thought is that I'll expand my daily *practice* to aim for a word count on a particular thing I'm writing.

Well there were US college football players called Jerome Fruithandler and Crescent Dragonwagon, so your list looks perfect to my eyes.

I made a carrot dip for a progressive dinner with a 24K theme - loosely based on a recipe from Crescent Dragonwagon - I put 1/2 tsp of Penzy’s hot curry, some paprika and some turmeric. Most of the guests will be Midwestern Ashkenazi Jews - do I need to label “spicy”?

I've been enjoying these in a salad with arugula, almonds, and hardboiled egg. Recipe adapted from the Passionate Vegetarian, by the inimitable Crescent Dragonwagon.
