I totally agree. But Turvey is very insistent that what you perceive is logically entailed by the information your senses pick up. He doesn't seem to admit that you might simply make a good guess based on past experience. If someone thinks I am misunderstanding Turvey please say so! #ecopsych

It occurs to me that there must be some ecopsych paper about MILFs that has to somehow square the existence of that fetish with ecopsych's main scientific goal of justifying the pursuit of dubiously young women

While you’re here, is there an ecopsych story about what would be happening if someone misperceived a rope as a snake. (Or other similar mistaken non-perceivings.) I don’t mean that as a gotcha, I’m assuming there’s a story and if there is it’s cool…

Isn’t that EcoPsych/Radical Enactivism?

Good article. Definitely cleared up some misconceptions I had about EvoPsych, including the modularity assumption.

One question I still have is how EcoPsych can show a behavior is evolutionary/cultural for behaviors that aren't present in non-human apes? What's the criteria?

My problem with...

Do any of my ecopsych or other vision friends have a take on why the rapid optic flow of images that you experience on a train is so relaxing?

I think you are right about the microsaccades. What do EcoPsych folks say about saccadic suppression? That’s where I was sensing some “competing hypotheses” action.

5. Believe it or not, my degrees are all in the humanities because I am terrible at math! But I make good use of skills I learned like writing and ecopsych to be a better everyday #naturalist, community educator, and #scicomm enthusiast.

Mary Good, in Sonoma, has long been my favorite person to talk to about ecopsych. She's an exquisite writer, and very thoughtful about the possibilities and problems of both ecopsych as it's practiced and its relationship with neopaganism and animism. www.marygoodtherapy.com/new-page-3

1) A book about the aesthetics of, and contemplative engagements with, horror films & extreme metal drawing on Buddhist philosophy

2) An attempt to reorient conceptions of mind in a radically ecological direction (not EcoPsych), drawing on insights from Vasubandhu — probably with Sonam Kachru
1) The variety of ways that extended cognitive factors can use used to harm, manipulate & exploit. The project is organised around varied 'scales' from embodiment, through scaffolding, to niche-construction.
2) The convergence between selfish gene and shareholder supremacy thinking = bioThatcherism.
Bluesky academics, let's get to know each other! Quote this & tell me: 1) a project you are working on & 2) an odd idea/theory you aren't working on but keep thinking about.
Here's mine:
- Whether we can have statehood without inhabitable land.
- The legal-philosophical symbolism in Wagner's Ring.
