#eggcorn
Didn't want to hijack another person's eggcorn post but it reminded me my son used to sing

I wanna be the very best
Like no one ever was
To catch them is my real test
To train them in my car

Proper eggcorn, that.

Well, maybe, but it'd be in the OED entry if they knew about it. As it is, they don't recognise roiling boil at all (even though people clearly say it).

Of the two, I'd have thought the repetitive "oi" sound made roiling boil the more likely eggcorn.

Isn't the idea a continuous, "rolling" boil?

This eggcorn irks me
I’ll never understand how or why folks started to get “whether” and “rather” mixed up 😭

new eggcorn just dropped: "naval gazing"

Eggcorn - A word or phrase that results from a mishearing or reinterpretation of another, but which still makes logical sense in its altered form—often leading to amusing or creative twists on the original.

Is this an example of an "eggcorn"? The author surely meant "fomented" but "fermented" still sort of works I think. What do you reckon?

Just encountered a new (to me) #eggcorn: "all do respect"

Realized a very slight eggcorn: when we say "get a word in edgewise," we stress it as if "in edgewise" is a prepositional phrase when it's originally adverbs—like "get in a word, edgewise"

Haha, I feel like I've done that sort of thing before! I wonder if that would be what we call an eggcorn, which is when someone mishears one phrase as another, inaccurate, but linguistically coherent phrase. "Eggcorn" is an eggcorn of "acorn."

My child has been invited to an aerial gymnastics party and is very excited to have a go on the ‘aerial raccoon’. An excellent #eggcorn for aerial cocoon.
