#emcomms
Next time I hear someone saying they rely on #starlink for #backup or #emergency communications, I will show them this. Not the first time #elonmusk has threatened to withdraw a service when in a #tantrum. Don'y rely on services from children. #emcomms #civildefence #amateurradio

If we all had a $40 radio, and set up a relay every so many miles, we could have a chain of emcomms across the country - no license needed.

I'll chuck this out there again for the weekday #amateurradio & #Hamradio people.

Some research I am doing on EmComms and resillience. Is there a place for Radio Amateurs in the UK?

RAYNET is the oldest and probably best known group, but there are others.
A question for my UK #amateurradio friends, for something I am researching.

RAYNET, what are your thoughts?
Are you or have you been a member?
Is it still relevant in the UK? I know in the US, things like ARES are sill used a lot.
and anything else you might like to throw in to the discussion.

me, on getting my 2E0: OMG I'm going to recrystal these pagers for 144.65!
me, today: Younger Me was an idiot. 144.8 would have been a better pick, that's APRS... 144.65 is a RAYNET emcomms frequency.
