I have a 55 gal tank I use as a carnivorous & epiphytic plant terrarium. These tiny guys popped out a few months ago when I was running the mister. I've had this kind of snail appear in other terrariums - I don't know the species but I assume eggs are coming in on the dried sphagnum or other mosses

2/2 …for conservation of all three, insofar as significant proportion of their global populations are found here. Fascinatingly, P cyanoloma often serves as substrate itself for another #lichen: Normandina pulchella! Note its bright green squamules growing on lobes below. Isle of Eigg, Scotland.

Trying to ID some nifty seaweeds in my new seaweed book, and having the same problem I have when I try to look up a word in a dictionary: I start reading, lose track of time, forget what I was looking up to start with, and then annoy people with weird trivia for the rest of the day.

It measures about 8 centimeters, is epiphytic (that is, it grows on other plants) and has flowers in shades of yellow and pale green: it is Telipogon villonacoensis, a species recently described by scientists. The first specimen of the orchid was discovered in Loja in 2023.

One-handedly planted out some lettuce seedlings that have been languishing in their punnet since the day before I broke my arm. I think they’ll survive. Also potted up two tomatoes I started from seed & discovered a broken off piece of my rock orchid that I tossed into a shady spot is flowering.

I bring Epidendrum conopseum indoors to fill the house with its nocturnal, honey-scented perfume when it's in bloom. This species #orchid is the northernmost-growing epiphytic orchid in the U.S.. I've kept two of the Florida form happy for years, but lost the Mexican one.

Last false vine added; real wood vines will be added once all three are confirmed stably mounted, as they will be strung about between the false ones (they’re all shorter). Five of six PLANNED side-mounted “planters” glued in place, with four actually planted.
