Chernyshevsky's politics aren't all that remarkable (though perhaps they were at that time in Russia): it's more or less utopian socialism grounded in western European liberalism re: rationalism and individualism. "Rational egoism" meant self-interest = pursuit of collective welfare.

The lack of condemnation of the US attack on Venezuela from European countries is both embarrassing and disturbing.

Stunning: The US military-industrial complex just lost $244 billion in European defense contracts—and nobody in Washington saw it coming.

As I’ve said America is like all 3 dead European empires before WWI
All these men are so old. Biden and Israel. Trump and fossil fuels. Everyone fighting old wars. No one building the future. They don’t care. They can’t imagine a world without them in it.

At a superficial level it's the same strategy as the Napoleonic wars - "stay hostile until the European megalomaniac attempts an ill conceived invasion of Russia"

Invading Canada would 1) Be hard because of terrain meaning it'd be a very costly war. 2) Almost certainly end up with European intervention.

@parismarx.com: The US attack on Venezuela, the sanctioning of ICC, UN, and European officials shows that digital sovereignty is paramount. Countries need to accelerate efforts to carve themselves out of dependence on the United States.

American will NOT take Greenland. It's part of the Kingdom of Denmark. Denmark has military branches such as ours. Denmark will bring in Germany, Britain, Norway, Sweden... European NATO members.

When I was a college student studying abroad back in 1994, 2 friends & I were sitting at a random outdoor European cafe. Suddenly their eyes got big and I looked behind me and there, sitting at the next table, was Billy Joel.

Mind you, we were the only tables w/people at them.

It was surreal.

I just meant that the list of progressive goals was a very European list. It’s Denmark. Or Paris. Sure Europe isn’t perfect by any means, tons of problems. But that list is describing Europe and European social goals. Which are different to “it’s critical that the mega rich can become ultra rich”
