I love physical copies of old games. I love the art, the packaging, the manual design, the actual cartridge or disc. They feel special. The physical aspect feels important. But even I’m starting to get to the point where EverDrives and ODEs are the way to go.

Full disclosure: This is a frequent sin of cheap no-name NES flash carts. Name brand carts like Everdrives tend to have a few bidi transceiver chips (like the ones linked) in them to shift between 5V and 3V3.
By omitting them, shitlers save about $7 per cart :(

I used to have a big cartridge collection and then I decided to go back to school and become a nurse. I use the money to buy a computer that I used in nursing school. My collection now is different and I have everdrives but my old games are in good hands and I have a different collection to enjoy.

Oh yeah I have seen that, I forgot about it. There is an Everdrive, but Everdrives are never cheap, and the AES one is a lot more lol. I know the CD has some exclusives, but the only one I care about is Sam Sho RPG, so exclusives are def not what it's come to

Damage? In what way? does the pcb not have a tapered edge? Or is it a voltage things? I've heard of cheap everdrives and repros from alibaba that had voltage issues.

Nun ja, dafür sind sie da. Aber weiß was du meinst. Besagter Kumpel hat sich zum Spielen everdrives (oder wie die heißen) besorgt, oder leiht sich die moderneren Games bei mir.

We're privileged to live in an era of flash carts, everdrives, evercade, and parts/software to easily mod most consoles of the 7th generation and below. Instead of whining about how a game is inaccessible to you, go slap a SATA into your PS2 or crack the firmware of a Wii.

I went over the 4 MB limit because I was trying to have 100+ scenes with the maximum resolution each. So I'd say the biggest memory hog would be backgrounds. Also, since you mentioned cartridges, I'd recommend trying to keep your game to 2 MB if you want a physical run (but Everdrives are fine)

The Saturn and my GBCam. Also theoretically I'd say the Famicom, for all its colorful cartridges, but I'm also getting more and more Everdrives and ODEs, because prices for old games just went completely off the rails

Very interesting… does it just pull the ROM data off the cart and load it in to the respective core or does it act like real hardware. Could you run Everdrives through the cartridge port?

I keep looking respectfully at bootleg Mega Everdrives of dubious quality because the PAL prices for some less common titles are more than I would willingly pay for just 50 of the glorious hertz.

Spending a lot of money to put a MiSTer together when I already have most of the consoles it emulates + a large library of games + everdrives/ODEs for the games I don't have
On the plus side, it's cheaper than buying arcade PCBs, which is basically my game collecting final frontier
