That funding wasn’t a coincidence. Argentina didn’t just open its doors to Nazis—they rolled out the red carpet. Money, “expertise,” and a shared obsession with whitening the nation. #Pinks

I'll just note that without any expertise or credentials in science, we're left to the miseries of psychopaths with famouse or rich dads.

Random stranger, with no expertise, responds to me because he feels that he need not take a stranger’s (i.e., my) view seriously unless I explain it to him personally (all the while I have my source material attached).

Expertise is really dead.

Welcome the age of AI slop.
We know — from first principles — that LLMs can only create AI slop.

Why do people keep needing empirical tests?
The intractability proof (a.k.a. Ingenia theorem) implies that any attempts to scale up AI-by-Learning to situations of real-world, human-level complexity will consume an astronomical amount of resources (see Box 1 for an explanation). 13/n

RFK Jr. keeps repeating this ridiculous, ignorant bullshit.

Trust in expertise is literally a vital feature of both science and of representative democracy.

I wrote a whole-ass thread about it last time around; maybe worth revisiting.

The real banger in this is the coinage of the term "epistemia," for something that has the surface appearance of knowledgeability & plausibility but no actual verification or expertise. Gonna get a lot of use, connecting the dots between bullshit, technochauvinism, & epistemic/hermeneutic injustice.
We. Told. You. So. But also, that "May Rely" in the significance section ( 👇🏾 ) is *way* too… let's go with "generous;" lexical associations and statistical priors are what these systems are literally made of, and all that they do. Literally. doi.org/10.1073/pnas...

Scoop: IREC, a major renewables industry org that provides technical expertise to local governments (R and D), had to lay off a third of its staff due to Trump cuts that slashed half its budget.

IREC said it was targeted just because its nonprofit was registered in New York. Whole staff is remote.

Like her sidekick Helen Joyce, Maya fucking Forstater "does not have any formal education or qualifications even in biology, let alone in gender, sex or law... she is not an expert at all. She has no recognised expertise in any of the areas in which she expresses an opinion."
The (very clear) intention of the drafters of equality legislation in Britain, in Ireland, in Europe & around the world was to ERADICATE sex discrimination, NOT to create separate "men's rights" & "women's rights" to be assigned at birth based on genitals or chromosomes. #GOTF
