Interesting that MSNBC via fetchtv in Australia shows "This channel is currently unavailable" at the start of the Rachel Maddow Show despite being available for the previous four hours.

I've got both a FetchTV box (which Optus gave me for free) and a "Chromecast with Google TV", and although there's nothing wrong with the fetch box, the chromecast is snappier. If the new streamer is better than the chromecast, it'll be fine.

VLC on Android to the rescue yet again. You can use the Android screen recorder to rip free-to-air recordings off a FetchTV Mighty. Just need to find a decent audio loopback for Android instead of using the phone mic to extract audio.

Just ordered a FetchTV Smartbox. Hope I won't regret it as very mixed reviews out there. Regular firmware updates provided reassurance.

Is the FetchTV the worst possible user interface ever? Trying to find a program on view is a nightmare, with search not working and the live TV playing while you try and concentrate on what you are trying to find. Or even worse, the live TV keeps playing while you try and watch your show.
