What a deer little creature. What are Gulf Coast sheep like? I suspect dual purpose meat/wool? Not a finewool but still serviceable enough for sturdy stuffs, I guess?

While sheep were domesticated over 3,000 years ago, what we now call finewool breeds (merino was the first) only developed about 500 years ago.

Spain strictly controlled their merino flocks until the ~1700s because of how fine the fibre was compared to other breeds at the time.

I sold my finewool crosses (Rambouillet/Suffolk) at about that weight at about that price. Allowing for living in a much more expensive area now, I was expecting the ~$450 range including kill but not cut/wrap.

I don't eat much lamb these days.
