Q: Do you need to unregister Firestore listeners when a web page is closed?
A: For clean disconnects that's a good practice, but don't go out of your way for dirty disconnects (like page unloads). Firestore handles them gracefully.

Can Firebase Studio create apps that automatically integrate with a persistent storage like Firestore?
Another nice thing with moving to SQL is I get cascading deletions “for free”. I noticed when exporting and mapping the Firestore data that there’s a whole lot of floating, unowned data that doesn’t need to be there any more.
Revisiting my database structure for moving from NoSQL to SQL proving very useful and quite humbling. I’m really scratching my head at some parts of my current setup…
I’m also learning about some neat SQL features I can leverage; first up is window functions to avoid stale denormalized data.

If your front-end code loads hundreds/thousands of documents from Firestore, you're doing it wrong.
Instead treat every document as if it's a separate file.
You wouldn't load hundreds of individual files from the server, so don't do that from Firestore either.
