Fantastic morning at South Landing, Flamborough last week. Picked up a couple of Yellow-browed Warblers flitting through the sycamores in the ravine. Great seeing these little Siberian visitors

My big brother just sent me this, one the surviving photos of us that my horrible dad didn’t manage to burn before he left us (he destroyed lots of them apparently, an act of trying to forget we existed that he managed quite well). Flamborough 81. I’d wear those shorts now if I had them! Goodnight.

Really good first day in Yorkshire spent at Flamborough. Little Gull & Yellow-browed Warbler added to the year list. Good numbers of winter thrushes & Brambling around. 7 Pomarine Skua were the birds of the day though. 73 species for the trip list #UKBirding

Headed to Flamborough for the start of migration week. Somehow it took me 3 hours to walk 1.5 miles from Bempton train station.
Best bird was Whinchat. Those broad field margins were cracking too & no doubt why there were dozens of Yellowhammers 💛
Whooper, Gannet chick, 100s of Tree Sparrrows too 🪶

Got the White-throated Needletail at Filey Brigg this evening. Some happy chappies up there. Bempton/Flamborough head in background. #ukbirding #Needletail @flamboroughbird.bsky.social

Eshaness, Shetland. An unexpected place to see a Red-breasted Flycatcher. Very different to Flamborough willows or behind the Crown & Anchor. Bird, a tiny dot against the backdrop of volcanic cliffs. Fulmars looking more at home.
RB Fly was species 250 for the year, goal reached.

For those who managed to get to Bempton in time yesterday evening, the Needletail performed brilliantly, passing to and fro along the cliffs, often at very close quarters. It such a shame it has not been seen this morning. Once again, Flamborough Headland delivers a top notch rarity!

The place in Flamborough does his hand made Ganseys. Patterns named after the little village ports up along the coast Flamborough, Staithes, Robin Hoods Bay, Filey Steps etc. Very tightly knitted to repeat water, reversible and plain cuffs to make repairs easy

Soho. That’s it from my trip to London, hopefully the things I saw will provide me with a spark of inspiration. I’m away again to gather with my family to scatter my mum’s ashes on the East Yorkshire coast. Make sure you’re not eating sandwiches on the windy cliffs near Flamborough soon 🫣😶‍🌫️😮‍💨
