Had a day off, so Ultra Q baby!
EPISODE 15, Kanegon’s Cocoon: A very fun episode. Another episode about a kid being punished for something, this time its greed. I liked how clever the idea is for Kanegon, and the episode matched with an equally comedic and zany episode. A tier A kid’s swapmeet? This kid is chasing the bag Another episode with a unique intro song Why the name Daddy Walrus? The kid’s name is straight up money, kinda baller Godzilla mentioned To be serious, I love the concept of the episode so far. A kid’s greed literally corrupts and consumes him More of my believed fog effects What the hell is that!? Straight up some kinda seraphim like being Hello my friend Kanegon, love his design a wacky and out there being A kid who simply wanted to hoard money, now needs to eat it to survive. Oh shit its Ide Love when Ultra Q delves into fantasy, a nice change of pace from the mostly Sci-Fi stories Very funny sequence with the kids and priestess Another funny bit with the kid zipping Kanegon’s mouth shut, pretty funny episode Love how unrealistic the kid’s worries are. If they turn Kanegon to a dog pound they’ll skin him, if he’s given to scientists they’ll dissect him. No Jun, Yuri or Ippei EPISODE 16, Garamon Strikes Back: Another contender for my favorite. I don’t have a whole lot to say on this one, but it’s an extremely engaging episode. It is kind of basic by today’s standard, but as the first Seijin episode of the Ultra series, it's a great first outing for the Seijin type of episode. S rank Love nighttime shots in Black and White Also our first proper alien invasion plotline it seems Really cool shots of outer space Automobile moment Oh hey its Akihiko Hirata Maybe it's just the presence of Kenji Sahara and Akihiko Hirata, but this feels like a classic Toho Tokusatsu film so far. Loving the bit with the people in the diner watching Garamon on TV Garamon aura farming in the fog, goes hard What does he mean by that? Very nice city set Great compositing to sell the illusion of 2 Garamons Cicadaman reveal is nice, interesting that Cicada-Man is Ultra’s first Seijin Oh they just burn him alive for his failure EPISODE 17, The ⅛ Project: Despite not having many notes for this episode, this is another contender for my favorites. A very intriguing episode that makes a lot of commentary on man’s social nature. I may not be getting the full picture of this episode and I definitely want to look more into the production behind this one cause this was a delight. S rank I love the opening sequence for this one Foreshadowing for the Mephalis episode? Delightful sounds in this episode Love the way the ⅛ set is shot and constructed Really love the episode’s concept and story. Unsure of what it's meant to be commenting on, but the ⅛ Project itself feels like a cult, though given the time period I wouldn’t be surprised if it was meant as commentary on communism The giant props are really impressive, in fact the whole set for Yuri on the desk is very impressive Awesome uses of compositing for the whole episode Wow what an ending EPISODE 18, The Rainbow’s Egg: A very lovely episode. I love when the Ultra series integrates folklore and superstition with Sci-Fi and kaiju. The episode had a nice heartwarming ending, and my good friend Pagos. S rank. PAGOS!!!!!! Oh nah they got the demon’s core in the trailer Underground monster surfacing scenes my favorite My favorite Ultra Q Kaiju, Pagos. Hello Love how the Ultra series takes things like folktales or superstitions and integrates them into stories that take place in the modern day Fun juxtaposition between the plot of the kids and the plot of the adults I like the set for the power plant a lot I love the way that Pagos moves A perfectly cut off scream Oh that was an awesome effect for Pagos’ death But also NOOOO PAGOS WHY!!!!!!!!!! A very heartwarming ending, but that is still a capsule of Uranium, so someone should get that

Starting a new book of short stories. This is a little outside of my comfort zone. I haven’t read horror stories since high school. But I want to stretch my boundaries, so I’m giving this a try. “The Black Girl Survives in This One.” (Although it seems a little weird to already know how each ends.)

"Call to the Dark" is a supernatural horror fiction podcast, told through short stories and epistolary pieces, and inspired by Southern African folktales and myths.

Sorry my wording is probably not helpful, I ran out of space. My understanding was that the oldest manuscript still in existence was dated 1592. Most folktales have far older roots of course. Thanks for the additional information.
