I’ve been trying to establish what this dish served at Richard III’s coronation on July 6th 1483 entails. It is most likely a kind of closed tart/pie but I have been unable to determine its filling, savoury or sweet. #foodhistorians #medievalists can you help please?

#FoodHistorians or even just regular #historians: what are the best history books on BBQ? I read today that the smoked brisket popular in Texas BBQ stems from Jewish immigrants in Texas, and that just blew my mind. Now I want to figure out what else I don’t know.

Thank you! I was following many of these #foodhistorians here, but your list definitely helped to fill in the gaps. Cheers! (BTW, 'The Bookshop, The Draper, The Candlestick Maker...' is proving to be another one of your brilliant works. I'm thoroughly enjoying it.)

For foodhistorians one of the more fascinating details of the Bayeux Gobelin. What's that barbecue all about? What's for dinner? I have some ideas, what do you think?

Can any #FoodHistorians recommend any research that mentions Agnes Jekyll's Kitchen Essays (1922) - a compilation of her articles in The Times 1921-22 @neilbuttery.bsky.social @nancynilgen.bsky.social @mrssbilton.bsky.social @dranniegray.bsky.social

Europe also suffered from the potato blight, but it wasn't as devastating because the poor were not as reliant (relatively) upon potatoes. Point is the Irish famine is complex, but the actual blight pathogen remained mysterious until recently. Many #foodhistorians have covered this. 2/2

You'll fine a few other foodhistorians here too. Not nearly enough, but it's happening.
