Officials emphasized that prompt drainage of water, timely application of fungicides, and balanced fertilization are crucial steps for mitigating losses and restoring crop productivity after adverse weather conditions experienced recently. Farmers are encouraged to follow these guidelines

For submerged nurseries in affected districts, treatment with urea and potash along with fungicides such as carbendazim or a combination of carbendazim plus mancozeb is suggested to prevent seedling rot. Cotton and groundnut farmers should use hexaconazole or carbendazim for leaf spot disease

Farmers have been advised to implement several measures: quickly draining standing water from fields, supporting lodged crops, and applying fungicides like propiconazole to prevent grain discoloration and fungal diseases. A 5% salt solution is recommended for crops showing signs of pre-harvest

Recent work has demonstrated that a single exposure to a dramatic stress induces transgenerational phenotypes of altered color, obesity, glucose tolerance, behavior and longevity. But we are exposed to different environmental stresses each generation (changes in pesticides and fungicides etc) 2/9

Jonagold and jonagored are beautiful Irish crisp tasty apples.
Beware the lack of bruising.... crops grown outside Europe have different rules on fungicides and pesticides.
Always buy European if you can (bananas not possible for example)

The lights I get from Sunco, they're incredibly cheap, & LEDs use next to nothing for power. But the chemicals - fungicides, insecticides, biologicals cost an arm & a leg

A terrifying piece from Germany's public broadcaster DW on the rise of deadly treatment-resistant fungal infections in humans and the link to the widespread use of fungicides in agriculture. Because of course there's a link to industrial agriculture.

Purported CHS is a misdiagnosis. What it actually consists of is chemical poisoning, nothing to do with an entirely non-toxic herb but everything to do with what it is grown in, what is sprayed on it, i.e. pesticides, fungicides, PGRs & fertilisers that should never be used on a plant to be ingested

France is starting to ban copper-based fungicides. Was about time to ban this heavy metal from agriculture!
« Nous pourrons exclure la bouillie bordelaise à condition que l’on nous propose une alternative viable. Il ne peut y avoir d’interdiction sans solution en face. »

C'est marrant, quand les agri disaient la même chose pour les néonicotinoïdes ils en prenaient plein la gueule…
"Des alternatives permettent pourtant de réduire l’usage des pesticides. L’agroécologie et l’agriculture biologique reposent sur la diversification des cultures, l’agroforesterie, les rotations ou les circuits courts."

Powdery mildew is a fungal disease of squash that causes a white powdery growth on leaves and stems. Fruit are not directly effected but growth may be stunted. Warm dry periods with high relative humidity favor disease development. Manage by using resistant varieties, fungicides & sanitation 🧪

Very interesting perspective here about the dangers of "treating" mould with bleaches ☠️ and fungicides ☠️ that are themselves dangerous - as opposed to getting rid of the actual problem, by ensuring homes are affordably warm and comfortably ventilated.
