This post was how I found out a comics publisher I'd followed for awhile was responsible for the original manifesto lmao
is it petty of me to unfollow them? It sure rubs me the wrong way the way they railed against furry being too much of a "lifestyle" then apparently abandoned the fandom forever..

I find it funny how the only good ones are those whose entire personality isn't about being a furry and doesn't talk about the fandom entirely

I'm really proud of my chubby bookworm pup! Even though I'm illiterate I'm proud to stuff him full of whatever tasty foods his heart could ever desire so he can continue reading 6000 books a year and share them with everyone. Furry writers and editors breathe so much life into the Fandom, so thanks!
I'm blown away by the response to the adult furry fiction showcase. Over 120 people packed into the room to watch me talk about books. And there were over 60 people at the general showcase earlier too. I got to connect so many people with stories today. Thank you so much for coming. <3

This is not the perspective of an outsider looking in - because I was very much in the Christian Furry-adjacent sphere for a long, long time during my early days in the fandom. But it was not out of genuine spiritual soul-seeking, but as a balancing countermeasure to my "deviancy"

That sucks to hear. Bara's basically the only part of the fandom I interact with. Most general furry stuff i see has lithe characters, maybe it's how opposite the bara look is.

i feel like its such an underrepresented aspect of the fandom. i rarely ever see any bara art at dealer dens and i keep getting rejected everytime i apply for them. its really disheartening.

Yeah. Back when I was in it furries weren’t really super prominent in the MLP fandom so my furry lore is mostly secondhand knowledge

Chat, we were cooked. Still, bronies persevered in attempting to recreate the furry fandom from scratch while simultaneously being hostile to the furry fandom at large and having a huge overlap of fans.
Even Anthrocon was not prepared for how big the show's fandom had gotten, upgrading the panel.

I was a furry first and it was only because some people hated furries so much that they weren't considered a subset of the furry fandom from the outset (and we share all the same problems)

I will be sticking to the wider furry fandom as a whole doing my own thing, and still interact with individuals I enjoy...
But otherwise no.

Some folks in the furry fandom needs to hear this:
1) Don't be afraid to try something new
2) Don't think you have to compete or compare yourself to anyone else...
These things aren't mutually exclusive.
You can be part of the fandom w/out having drawn a thing or producing a video
Just be you
