fwiw, anecdotally, my experience with pepper spray has been that it is *worse* than tear gas.

tear gas is a particulate that washes away quickly and easily.

pepper spray is an oil-based chemical weapon, so it persists much longer and requires prolonged treatment.

both can cause lifelong asthma.

You know, I just realized that I'd never posted this picture of by @artizek.bsky.social of Jaroq and my big ole Ronso/Hrothgar having a bit of fun as a couple of big bikers... one considerably bigger then the other of course! Outfit's based off the biker glamour from FFXIV.

They tend to be family-based, hard-working communities. They see the prices of groceries. They see the price of gas. They see the health insurance premiums.

Lying to them doesn't work.
More broadly, heavily-Latino counties moved far to the right in NJ last year, and back to the left this year:

Dear journalists: if you call me about “mustard gas” based on a sandwich, I’m going to make it my mission in life to embarrass you for decades. STOP CALLING ME OVER THIS ABJECT BULLSHIT
Deep sigh. “Mustard gas” is entirely unrelated to mustard or mustard seeds. It’s a nickname. Hell, it’s not even a gas

I hate arguments based on false equivalencies. But they don't even have that. What a waste of time and money.
The sooner we are not relying on gas and coal, then sooner we stop getting bent over. IMHO

Overall this is a good move. As we get more clean energy in the form of wind and solar, we can close down entirely electricity generated from oil/gas and instead use biofuel as the backup source - provided it's based on fuel from sustainable forests.

Interesting people demand lower gas prices based on oil which is nonrenewable and drives climate change

Market factors effects housing prices mainly from population growth

Politicians in general pander to voters most poorly informed from media

No, we write based on scene rather than word count. We lock into a particular mindset and emotion and see it through organically without worrying about length. I know we could just continue, but then you need more emotional gas in the tank and there's no guarantee we'll have it! #PretendPanel
Greetings, #pretendpanel! One week into writeathon month, I'm wondering how you feel about this notorious topic...

This graph, based on @climateactiontracker.org's latest projections, has global CO₂ₑ emissions peak right now-ish and then decline by 2100.

Good, but look at the slope of the decline. It's basically a slow linear decline.

That's...not how the world works.

The solution to a cut pipe is big tanks of gas? Or ships carrying tanks of gas? The vulnerability is a network based on centralized generators running on imported fuel. Our supply is already 40% renewables. It needs to be 100% and every resource directed away from that slows us down.

Personal niche interest - tax based on pollution and damage, rather than whatever it is we now have. Eg gas is much cheaper than electricity because electricity is loaded with decarbonisation costs. Similarly stupid proposal to do mileage tax on EVs, compounding that.

Kinda, but like, family owned and a wayyyyy wider variety of stuff based on the family's ethnic/national background. Plus bodegas never are connected to gas stations. Convenience stores corporate bodegas at gas stations for cars. Bodegas are street markets that just moved inside for foot traffic.
