It's not that it's for your own good it's because gmscompat which enables our sandboxed Play Services to work looks for the official gms package name. MicroG reuses this package name which would cause conflicts. If you want to use it, being an open source project feel free to build it in yourself.

Our 2024111700 release overhauled the way sandboxed Google Play runs background services. Our GmsCompat app runs a foreground service and used to keep a connection open to Play services and Play Store. It now creates the connection on-demand when they need a foreground service.
