On the bright side, Android 17 helps with this.
www.androidauthority.com/android-17-c...

And, yeah, I know GrapheneOS and iOS can already do this.
Android 17 is building a new Contacts Picker to keep your address book private
Android 17 may finally let you share only specific contacts with apps thanks to a new Contacts Picker tool. Here's how it may work.

I Pixel sono gli unici supportati da GrapheneOS che resta il migliore della categoria.
November 16, 2025 at 10:49 AM

It's kind of a wrench, to be sure, especially if you're heavy into social media. But worth it. Tutamail, Mulvad VPN, DuckDuckGo and a GrapheneOS phone. It's worth it.
November 16, 2025 at 2:54 AM
DuckDuckGo, GrapheneOS, and Mulvad. Look 'em up, install 'em, and give Google (and a whole shitton of other companies like it) the finger.

Time to use GrapheneOS

Samsung Galaxy, i haven't heard of GrapheneOS before!

Is it an Android? Do you have a Pixel?

It's basically for reasons like this that I installed GrapheneOS on my phone.

azixcel asked: hii! Sorry for barging into your askbox;-;
is it expected behavior for wafrn app to not have push notifications on grapheneOS? (np if it is, just wanted to check in case it isn't)

Okay brace yourself long explanation coming

Push notifications on Android depends on h[...]

Ironfox is a secure version of Firefox, avoid chrome, edge, etc,

DuckDuckGo for search, wipe Google ad tracking, avoid Google, avoid android (iPhone 12 newer indefinite updates) or consider grapheneOS for Pixel or degoogled firmware, privacy oriented phones, copilot off, ads off, linux/macos better

Recently I discovered a limitation of #grapheneos: NFC apps for payments.

We were accepting donations and selling merch at an event, and neither Square nor Zeffy worked on my phone. Luckily there were normies in the group!

Trying to move a Pixel 6a from GrapheneOS back to stock and the Android Flash Tool keeps giving me the error "Could not find end of central directory", no matter which build I choose or what parameters I tweak. Anyone else run into that issue? Wonder if the Flash Tool is just currently broken

I haven't used T-Mobile for years.

I wait for a deal on Mint Mobile and buy a year upfront, on the cheap w/ unlimited plan, under a false name and a prepaid card. Repeat annually. Only use it for data. With a Graphene OS phone. #cellular #security #grapheneos #privacy

Getting the itch to install GrapheneOS hmm
November 14, 2025 at 11:20 PM
Today I didn't buy a new phone, but I fixed my existing phone instead. I've got a Pixel 7 running GrapheneOS, and the camera cover broke. The camera cover is a tiny piece of glass about 0.8mm thick. The replacements are either on Aliexpress/Alibaba for €0.80, on Amazon for €9.99 plus S&H, or by […]

I wonder whether it's the moment I hunt down a non-latest Pixel and put GrapheneOS on it and see how it works for my needs 🤔

Really tempted to buy an oem unlocked pixel 9 to put grapheneos on
November 14, 2025 at 2:53 PM
When this phone dies, my next one is probably going to be a Pixel.

Not because I want the google ai shit. I very much don't.

It's because that's the phone you can safely put GrapheneOS on.

The AI garbage I'd a huge part of it but it's not even just that. Everything is filled with spyware, ads, and bloat out the ass.

Switching to GrapheneOS on my phone + CachyOS on my desktop and prioritizing FOSS and/or self-hosted tools whenever possible has been a lot of work but a massive payoff.
trying to switch off the AI bloatware that has been pinned to the top of every single menu in every single app
