They say that when the MOD owned The Butts house in the late '70s one resident was Colonel John Blashford-Snell, the renowned explorer, who once took a grand piano on a canoe up the rapids to a remote Wai Wai village in Guyana. He then returned two years later to tune it.

In March 2024, Venezuela passed a law that designated the Essequibo region, also claimed by Guyana, as a new state of Venezuela. This may have been a bridge too far, as they have been squabbling over this territory since at least 1899. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guyana%...

👀“some people”👀

In speaking with the delegates for Greece, Denmark and Guyana there seems to be consensus that there a few actors within the UNSC “delaying, delaying, delaying.” With some delegates’ behaviour acting as roadblocks in progress.

I suspect that Guyana and Trinidad & Tobago are looking at collateral damage from the war too.

Trump sending the USS Gerald Ford (named for America's hapless, football-fumbling, falling-down-the-stairs President) aircraft carrier to Latin America as war fears rise over Venezuela's illegal annexation of the oil-rich Essequibo region from Guyana in 2024. www.japantimes.co.jp/news/2025/10...

Guyana: We must eschew all ideas that do not line up with International Law, undermine the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination & dilute 2-state solution. 2 weeks after the peace plan approved, Israel's parliament pre-approving Israel sovereignty over West Bank.

ExxonMobil's block offshore of Guyana was estimated to hold 11 billion barrels of recoverable oil. This block alone is valued at around $1 Trillion.

Exxon's biggest shareholders are institutional investors. Their biggest owners are other institutional investors. It's a shell game (not Shell oil).

T0: Venzuela's Maduro uses compellence against Guyana for Essequibo.

T1: U.S., UK, Brazil (and France) deploy forces and/or supply equipment to deter Venezuela.

T2: U.S. uses compellence to oust Maduro.

T3: China and Russia express deep concerns and condemn it.

BTW, both Maduro and Machado are all in on annexing Essequibo from Guyana. I want to know what happens with that if Machado takes power?

Here is our piece on the Venezuela-Guyana crisis over Essequibo in the Foreign Area Officers' Journal of International Affairs. TL;DR: we call for U.S. Security Cooperation with Guyana, NATO members Canada, UK, and France, and regional power Brazil.

These aren't precision hits on "suspected" narco fleets; they're scattershot boat-blasts on any damn skiff bobbing in the Caribbean or Pacific, a grotesque pretext to grease the wheels for full-spectrum military adventurism, like regime change in Venezuela or oil grabs in Guyana.

I am a stupid, know nothing who wants to understand what the U.S. policy response will be for a Black Hawk Down scenario somewhere in Venezuela? Are we then reputationally bound to start a land invasion? Carry out more aerial attacks and Special Ops? Walk away from Venezuela: just defend Guyana?

Funniest possible outcomes of a regime change in Venezuela:

1) It fails, America is humiliated on the international stage in a way so hard not seen since Bay of Pigs, Maduro and Chavismo last forevermore.

2) it succeeds, but the new Venezuelan government invades Guyana the day after.

IMHO, the U.S. is doing compellence against Venezuela with the lancha bombings. Funnily enough, Venezuela was doing it against Guyana until a few months ago. The latter included a military buildup at their border and refurbing the navy. It needed U.S., UK, and Brazilian actions to deter Venezuela.

In March 2024, Venezuela passed a law that designated the Essequibo region of Guyana as a new state of Venezuela. Looks like the U.S. is about to LIBERATE the gold-and-oil rich region, teeming with crocodiles, and return it to their Guyanan vassals.

True, we limited our threats of force to only the Guyana. Vis a Vis Marco, him being a rabid anti-comunist that would make McCarthy blush and his deep seated hatred for the Cuban Government an ideological and literal ally of the Venezuelan regime.

Maduro’s people can not do recognize analysis if a national intelligence assessment was used to slap them, but they can occasionally recognize deployment of forces means things (see them not invading Guyana.)
