Yes, I read Things Fall Apart in 10th grade honors English. Shout out to my white teacher who prioritized black literature for his black students 🥰 cuz that’s who introduced me to my favorite Haitian author Edwidge Danticat 😊

Lets actually see them enforced. Like one of his declared ICE agents here in south Florida driving drunk with two young kids in the vehicle and trying to deflect by asking one of the cops if he was Haitian. Let see if he gets the same treatment as you or I.

ICE Agent arrested for drunk driving with children (as his 7- and 9-year-olds) were in the vehicle at the time. — insults black police officer by questioning the police officer's nationality ( “Are you Haitian?”)

That's bullshit, republicans cheat at everything, gerrymandering mid decade, disregarding or denying election results, and outright lying (unless of course you believe that Haitian immigrants are eating people's pets).

Lying about Obama being Kenyan to make the former look like a fraud, claiming to have gotten COVID-19 "under control", targeting Haitian immigrants with the racist "eating dogs" claim, enabling the Capitol Riot, and defending the Epstein cover-up.

Trujillo didn’t like Haitians much, possibly to cover up his own Haitian ancestry but I don’t think he particularly obsessed about them eating cats and dogs

This is why no Black people should be cheering ICE because these ract White people out here can't tell the difference between someone Haitian, someone Jamaican and someone Black American so all of us need to be rounded up and deported.

Back to this dude: He's sitting there shouting GO BACK TO HAITI and even though he's allegedly a Democratic voter, this goes to show you racist White people think we're all the same: Haitian, Jamaican, Black American. They can't tell the difference between us and don't care to.

One more thing: one of the runners, Harvey Lewis, is raising money to help Haitian friend and race pacer David Merey sustain a business to feed his family. Awesome cause if you have a couple bucks, they're close to goal! www.run4water.net/bigs-fundrai...

I would turn that ballroom into a world market with a big Haitian hot dog vendor stand right in the center, so we all gather as one nation and eat the dogs.

The more you read about them, the more you realise how incredible they were. With all of the obstacles they faced at the time, and what they would later go on to achieve, I want more people to read about them. Read about the Chinese Communists, the Haitian Revolutionaries, etc. They were amazing!

It reminds me of the proud and glorious Haitian Revolutionaries who fought for the liberation of all enslaved Haitians with Toussaint Louverture, and also went on to fight with Simón Bolívar in his quest to liberate all of the Americas from the fascist Europeans. Those were even more impressive!

Hector Hyppolite, ‘First Black Surrealist,’ Gets His Due at Art Basel
A few years ago, at Art Basel Paris, London’s The Gallery of Everything wanted to show the work of the late self-taught Haitian painter Hector Hyppolite, who is today considered a pioneering artist associated with the Surrealist movement. The response from the fair, gallery founder James Brett told ARTnews, was essentially: “Not now.” With Hyppolite having now appeared in several Surrealism blockbusters mounted last year to mark the movement’s centennial, the gallery is finally bringing his work to Art Basel Paris, which opens to the public on October 24.

It doesn't even cover 2 weeks of real food. I'm Haitian, pretty much everything is made from scratch. Sucks for my executive dysfunction, but didn't used to suck on price. Now that's out the window.
SNAP assistance should be enough to cover 2000 calories a day of HEALTHY food PER PERSON. Yes I want the government to make sure everyone has wholesome, tasty, filling meals. The problem isn't that people need assistance with food, it's that the assistance is a freaking joke.
