This is how we will achieve net zero, it just requires a sector coupling approach. The question is who are you selling your waste heat to? #heatnetworks

For the hundredth time #HeatNetworks. What Industry should be asking is who is paying for my waste heat/carbon reduction
Why do we waste more than 2/3 of the energy inputs you may ask?

One reason is to do with the technologies we use: In conventional fossil fuel systems, significant amounts of primary energy are lost as waste heat during combustion.

How do heat networks play a role in the UK’s journey to net zero? | E.ON UK
How do heat networks play a role in the UK’s journey to net zero? Earlier this week, we hosted a roundtable at our Citigen site with the Association for Decentralised Energy (ADE) the Parliamentary Renewable and Sustainable Energy Group ( PRASEG), to explore the vital role of heat networks in the UK’s journey to net zero. Here’s what we heard loud and clear: ✅ Heat networks are one of the most effective ways to decarbonise heat at scale, especially in dense urban areas and places with access to waste heat, and could unlock over £100bn of investment and 50,000 new jobs for the UK. ✅ Zoning and Ofgem regulation are big steps towards creating a more coordinated, investable and consumer-focused approach. ✅ Local communities stand to gain from more affordable, lower-carbon heating. But there are still barriers to overcome: 🔸 Mandation – To unlock investment buildings must be required to connect and use low-carbon heat and provide waste heat to for the network wherever possible. 🔸 Investment – additional public funding and stronger incentives are essential to attract private capital. 🔸 Regulation – streamlined, consistent rules are needed to boost confidence and avoid delays. With new legislation coming soon, this is a crucial chance to make clean heat the standard across the UK. Thank you to those who attended: Caroline Bragg, Polly Billington, Luke Taylor, Rt Hon Graham Stuart, Mark Garnier OBE, Vijay Tank. #HeatNetworks #NetZero #Innovation
